The Negative

Darkness is associated with doom, fear – yet in photography it is also the brink of light: There is something ermerging, the wonder of agitated emulsion on the touch of light, an awakening.

In Tenebrae, it is the death of Christ that falls upon the earth and darkens it – and it is the greatest secret of Christianity, that this darkness is the prelude to the light of easter.
